FAQs

Below you will find answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the studio and we will be happy to help.

  What are the teachers' qualifications?

Our teachers are college educated and/or have been teaching in the industry for over 20 years with certifications, awards and acknowledgments from other industry professionals. The quality and experience of what we bring to the classroom is something we are extremely proud of and would like to emphasize greatly as it is extremely important that the people responsible for teaching your children (in any activity) are professional, experienced and can also work well with children. Our focus every day is on your kids and making sure they have the best dance experience possible!

What does my monthly tuition pay for, and what other costs are there?

Your monthly tuition covers the cost of the class instruction and any preparation time that your instructor puts into structuring the class. Having a well run and pre-planned class is essential to an all-around positive experience for you and your dancers. You will not see instructors spending class time trying to figure out what they want to do next or changing the feel of the class from minute to minute. You tuition covers an average of 4 classes per month. Some months will have 3 classes due to holidays or weather closings and some months will have 5, but an average of 4 is what your dancer will receive.

We do have an annual recital which is the culmination of all the hard work that the kids have put in all year and there is a costume fee associated with that and also a recital fee to cover the costs of the auditorium rental, lighting, stage hands, props etc. Costume fees range from $65 to $85 depending on the routine. The recital fee is $55 per family.

Is participation in the recital mandatory?

No, it is not required. This is a decision that you and your dancer should make together. You may take class all season and participate in all the studio fun and activities and you will not be pressured to be a part of the annual recital if you don’t wish to be. However, we do need to know by November 1st if your dancer will not be dancing in the recital so that we can make sure choreography for the routine can be planned appropriately.

  How can payments be made?

You can pay by check and cash, as well as by credit card through your online account.

  Is there a dress code?

Ballet students must wear black leotards and pink tights and ballet shoes - hair in bun always please. Although, there is no official dress code for our other classes, we do expect students to be prepared in appropriate attire suitable for dance class. No jeans or dresses are to be worn in dance class and hair must be pulled back securely. Proper dance shoes must be worn at all times. For more detailed information on the dress and shoe requirements, please refer to your Student Handbook. Dance shoes can be purchased through the studio, or we can give you recommendations of where to purchase. Dancewear catalogs will be in the office as well to help with dance attire selection.   Do you offer make-up classes?

The only time a make-up class is offered is when the class is canceled by the instructor. There are no make-up classes given for inclement weather and/or student absences. However, if you feel your dancer is falling behind you can certainly schedule a solo lesson with the instructor at the normal solo lesson fee to catch them up.

Can I take any class during the week offered for my child’s age and discipline?

Each of our classes are unique and designed especially for that class time. We have no two classes that learn the same routines or perform the same choreography. Our instructors put a lot of time and effort in to making sure each class is geared toward what those dancers are looking for in their experience, and therefore jumping into another class would not be suitable for that dancer.

NOTE: Technique classes are available throughout the week and those classes are open to those who wish to join on a week-to-week basis at the standard individual class fee.

How many students are needed in a class?

A minimum of 5 students are needed to hold a class each week. If that number goes below 5 then duet/trio options will be given to the remaining dancers at the standard duet/solo fees.

  Can I observe classes?

Absolutely! We encourage you to watch class through our 2-way mirrors that look directly onto the dance floors. This enables you to observe but does not distract the kids who need to focus in the classroom. For our voice lessons we have a TV monitor that shows the class in session. For proper acoustics in the room we need to have all 4 walls around the room. As parents, it is crucial that you have the right and ability to always see what is going on with your kids at any given time. No matter what activity they are involved in, this should be the standard.

  Which classes should I take?

The classes you decide to take really depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. Do you want a fun, casual fast-paced class that covers many different styles of dance? Or, are you looking for a more structured class that concentrates on one individual discipline? The Class Descriptions are designed to help you make these choices and find the best fit for you. Our instructors are also happy to give you their professional advice to make sure you make appropriate choices for your dancer's age and skill level.
